2016Classic

This past weekend the wrestling team put on the 8th annual Keaser classic wrestling tournament. The team worked hard and battled against some of the toughest teams in the state to go 8 & 0 and bring home the team championship. It was truly a group effort to go undefeated as a team, to win the championship. There were many gritty matches, some in which our wrestling knights had to pull off some come from behind victories, to win this championship.

Individually for the knights. Senior captain Casey Payne earned the most outstanding light weight wrestler award. He will also be awarded athlete of the week by the Gazette newspaper for his performance. Senior captains Chris Kirchner, Montez Coleman and Casey Payne all went undefeated on the weekend going 8 and 0 or 7 and 0. DeShawn Madison also went 7 and 0. Other winners for the knights were…..
Jacob Kobus won 7 matches, Kaleb Wellford won 7, Damien Nguyen won 7, Seth Davis won 6, Logan Warren won 5, Tommy Ferger won 5, Juwan Smith won 3, Landon Salamone won 3, Jesse McElhose won 3, Mike Virella won 2, Travis Sypniewski won 2, Rodney Jones won 1, TJ Chapman won 1, Da’Rieus Stewart also wrestled with the varsity team this weekend. Congratulations to Coaches Brandon Ballard, Austin Delauder and Collin Alexander on their first tournament win as coaches.
